Description: My name is Emmett and I was rescued from New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Unfortunately, my owner could no longer keep me so I am now looking for another forever home. I am about 6 years old and am a large neutered male brown tabby (almost 16 lbs!). I am a very social cat – I run to greet my people when they come home and love to sleep next to them in their bed. I like to play with my toys, especially the cat charmer and wands with feathers on the end. I also love to talk and be pet. I'm pretty direct though -- I'll let you know when I've had enough petting by swinging my paws at you. I am also not crazy about being picked up and held. I am looking for an understanding family who will let me take my time getting to know them and who won't be insulted by an occasional growl if I initially feel scared. I may even try to bite you initially if I feel threatened by your putting your face too close to mine. I also need a home that doesn't have other cats or young children, and where I can stay inside (my front paws have been declawed). Will you give me a chance to love you and offer me a forever home as part of your family? I am currently being fostered in Denver, Colorado. |
